Create sheet
Requires API access: Manage, Forecast: Manage and the existing sheet entitlement. Creates blank, template or custom worksheets atomically in the authenticated company. Blank tabs start at the UI default of 100 rows by 26 columns; templates retain their dimensions. Values, formats and chart anchors append blank grid space within company limits (normally 500 rows and 52 columns), preserving existing cells and formula references. The limits of 100 worksheets, 50 charts per worksheet and a 1 MiB normalized snapshot apply. One custom request expands to at most 500 native operations across all tabs and ranges: each non-null cell write and each formatted cell counts, as do tab setup, charts, grid growth and any formula-preservation writes. Null skips its cell; sparse rectangles may span the company grid even when their area exceeds 500 cells. Template seeding is outside this budget. Splitting ranges within the request does not reset the budget. Validation failure saves nothing. Optional return_ranges evaluates selected outputs and dependencies after saving; a calculation error does not undo a successful save. Creation is not idempotent. After an ambiguous network result, check whether the document exists before repeating the request.

Name alone creates one blank worksheet named Sheet 1. Names must be nonblank. template_id and custom worksheets are mutually exclusive. template_options requires template_id. No company selector or grid-size input is accepted. return_ranges selects calculated outputs after saving using worksheet-name-qualified A1 addresses, up to 100 selections and 10000 selected cells in total. Selections must fit the final grid and are validated before save. Omit return_ranges for metadata without calculation.
Response
Saved document with worksheet/chart IDs and optional calculated outputs.
Saved document metadata with an absolute configured-app URL and stable worksheet/chart IDs. POST always includes worksheets and their chart definitions; it does not emit operation_results. Use the returned revision rather than assuming a fixed initial value. Optional return_ranges adds calculated selections and status; calculation errors do not roll back the saved document. Revision tracks sheet edits, not freshness of underlying accounting data.
x >= 0Bounded synchronous calculation; no pending job is created. error means one or more formulas failed. unavailable means evaluation could not run; values are omitted rather than invented. Formula-error cells have null values and corresponding errors. A write can be saved even when this status is not complete.
