Match transfer
Records money moving between two of the company’s own accounts by pairing the outgoing
transaction with the incoming one, the same as “Match transfer” in the Finta app. Both
transactions move to the Matched Transfer category and are approved, so neither counts as an
expense or income, and their transfer_id is set. Matching also removes any split, spread, department split or
changed accounting date on either transaction.
Finta matches some transfers between connected accounts automatically, but uploading with
POST /transaction_uploads doesn’t match anything, so pair those transfers with this endpoint.
Check first that neither transaction already has a transfer_id. To find the other side, call
GET /transactions with the opposite amount_cents, transaction_type=standard and a date range.
The pair must be for opposite amounts, dated within 14 days of each other, in different accounts,
with at least one of them uncategorized or pending. A transaction that paid an invoice can’t be
matched until its invoice payment is unmatched. Requires Transactions: Manage.
